THE JAZZREACH SUMMER INSTITUTE offers a fun, intensive two-week curriculum tailored to nurture burgeoning student musicians in your community (grades 9-12) who demonstrate a serious interest in learning about and playing jazz. The objectives of the Summer Institute are to provide participating students with high level instruction, guidance and encouragement in an attentive, supportive environment.
Students will have access to and learn from the individual members of Metta Quintet and other prominent guest teaching artists from the New York City jazz scene.
A total of 20 participants will be selected (by audition) per two-week session. Participants will comprise 4 small ensembles and 1 big band. One two-week session will take place over a successive 12 day period and culminate in a concert featuring all student ensemble configurations and Metta Quintet.
